PURPOSE:To speed up the operation of an acoustooptic element stably up to its maximum responsibility by modulating one frequency with a modulating input, modulating the other carrier frequency with said modulated signal, and inputting the resulting signal of the acoustooptic element. CONSTITUTION:The frequency of an oscillator 5 is modulated by a mixer 6 with the modulating input signal M to obtain a pulse train. This pulse train signal is used by a mixer 3 to modulate the carrier of a high-frequency oscillator 2, and the modulated signal is applied to the acoustooptic element 1 through an amplifier 4. Consequently, fast optical modulation is realized stably and the operation is speeded up stably up to the maximum responsibility of the element 1. |
