PURPOSE:To improve soft soil in a short time by a method in which filters are provided to a vertically movable steel box-like tank and the lower part of a steel strut, and a vacuum pump and a water pump are attached to the upper and lower part of the strut. CONSTITUTION:A vertically movable steel box-like tank 1 is towed to a given position, and water is charged into the tank 1 to sunk it to the bottom under water. A vacuum condition is produced inside of a filter 3 by means of a vacuum pump 2 and the water of soft soil layer is sucked through the filter 3 to consolidate the bottom soil layer under water. The water sucked through the filter 3 is pumped up by a water pump 4 for draining after the completion of construction work, the tank 1 is floated by discharging its water and moved to the other position. |
