PURPOSE:The titled optical molding improved in double refraction and strength, prepared by molding a resin obtained from a dihydric phenol compound by using a polyfunctional organic compound having phenolic hydroxyl groups as a branching agent. CONSTITUTION:A branched polycarbonate resin is prepared from a dihydric phenol compound by using an at least trifunctional organic compound having phenolic hydroxyl groups as a branching agent. This branched polycarbonate resin is molded to obtain an optical molding. Said branched polycarbonate resin preferably has a viscosity-average MW of 13,000-20,000, and the amount of the branching agent used is 0.02-3mol%, based on the dihydric phenol compound. Examples of the branching agents used include phloroglucinol and 3,3-bis(4-hydroxyaryl)hydroxyindoles.
