PURPOSE:A specific micoorganism, capable of producing epoxide is allowed to act on olefin under aerobic conditions in a water-insoluble organic solvent whereby the corresponding epoxide is produced through simple operations in high yield. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism in Nocardia, Brevibacterium or Corynebacterium, capable of producing epoxide is allowed to act on a straight-chain or branched olefin of 6-10 carbon atoms under aerobic conditions. When the microorganism is allowed to act on the olefin, paraffin of 9-15C, olefin of 12- 18C, halogenated paraffin of 10-16C or alkylbenzene with a side chain of 6- 15C or their mixture is added as a solvent. |
