Heat insulating mineral material is prepd. by mixing to a paste in the presence of water the components (A) water soluble alkali silicate; (B) alumina cement, opt. mixed with Portland cement; (c) expanding agent based on metal; and (d) an agent for stabilising the foam produced. The mixt. may then be placed or shaped as desired. The mixt. does not have to be hardened in an autoclave or under the action of heat. It sets in a matter of minutes after expansion to form a material with uniform regularly distributed bubbles. Extremely lightweight foams can be produced (densities 0.5).
|
