PURPOSE:To omit the independent laying of an auxiliary cable and to reduce the working and cost required for the laying by utilizing a connecting cable in an optical cable to connect an optical cable core. CONSTITUTION:A light source 8 and a photodetector 9 are fitted to the non- connection end side 1b of the optical cable 1 and the non-connection end side 2b of the other optical cable 2 respectively. The connecting optical fiber is incorporated in the optical cable 2. At the connection of the optical fiber end parts of respective optical cables to the connection end side of the optical cables, an optical signal is passed through the light source 8 and the optical fiber photodetector 9 which make a pair and a detecting signal from the photodetector 9 is transmitted to the optical cable connection end side through the connecting fiber 6. On the connection end side, the optical fiber end parts to be connected are mutually matched at their axes on the basis of the transmitted detecting signal, and after the matching of the axes, the respective optical fiber end parts are welded and connected. Thus, rationalization including power saving and economical efficience can be attained. |
