PURPOSE:To eliminate strong variation of a peak level display and makes a display conforming to actual peak value variaton by increasing a level decrement gradually with elapse of the time from a peak detection point of time. CONSTITUTION:Signal data and output data of a down counter 11 are inputted to a level comparator 4, and when the signal data becomes greater, the signal data is loaded in the down counter 11. Simultaneously, a timer circuit 10 is reset and a carry-out output is outputted every time a specific time T1 is elapsed. A control circuit 12 counts carry-out outputs of the timer circuit 10 and the value of the down counter 11 is decreased by an expected level decrement corresponding to the number (n) of times. Outputs of conversion table ROMs 2 and 7 are inputted to a display element driving circuit 8 to drive a display element corresponding to the peak level independently and also drive all display elements corresponding to levels below the current input signal data level simultaneously.
