PURPOSE:To improve color development performance and dispersibility, and to obtain a color image superior in heat and light fastness by using a specified cyan dye image-forming coupler. CONSTITUTION:The cyan dye image-forming coupler is represented by the formula in which R1 is H, a group releasable by hydrolysis, or optionally substituted alkyl or aryl; R2 is optionally substituted alkyl, aryl, or heterocyclic, or optionally substituted amino; Y is N or monosubstd. C; Z is a nonmetallic atomic group necessary to form a 5--7-membered ring; and X is H or a group releasable when a cyan dye image is formed by the coupling reaction with the oxidation product of a color developing agent. This cyan dye image thus formed has superior fastness to light, heat, and humidity, and does not deteriorate development color density even when it is processed with a bleaching soln. low in oxidizing power or fatigued. Since it is superior in color development performance, high in sensitivity, and the obtainable max. density, it can reduce an amt. of silver chloride to be used for a photographic emulsion. It is suitable not only for ordinary processing, but also for rapid processing or processing without using a color formation promoter, such as benzyl alcohol. |
