PURPOSE:To attain ease of stable and sure high density recording and reproduction where a thin electrode is used and the recording and reproduction with high recording density are attained by detecting the change in the conductivity of a recording layer of an information recording medium to reproduce an information signal. CONSTITUTION:A conductive layer 4 is adhered on the upper face of a base 1 and a dielectric layer 5 constituted by using a dielectric such as barrium titanate is constituted on the upper face of the conductor layer 4, and then a recording layer 2 made of a material where the phase change from the amorphous state to the crystal state or vice versa is caused by applying an electromagnetic wave or an electric field or heating to the upper face of the dielectric layer 5 is formed, and the dielectric layer 3 having a thickness below 1/2 of the shortest recording wavelength is provided to the upper face of the recording layer 2. Since the dielectric layer 5 is provided adjacent to the recording layer 2 in the information recording medium having the constitution in this way, the information signal is recorded easily to the recording layer 2 by the heat generated to the dielectric layer 5 by the recording signal at the recording of the information signal. |
