PURPOSE:To eliminate the influence of stylus jumping produced during the grinding operation so as to stabilize the ground shape of styluses and improve the grinding efficiency, by using plural kinds of grinding discs provided with grinding grooves of different pitches and properly using the grinding discs. CONSTITUTION:Grinding of information signal reproducing styluses is performed by using two kinds of grinding in such a way that one grinding disc, whose ratio W/P of the groove width W to the groove interval P is smaller, is used for finish grinding and the other grinding disc, whose ratio W/P is larger, is used for rough grinding. Firstly, a projected section 5 with an effective electrode part width which is several times wider than a desired electrode width lis manufactured at the end of a triangular-pyramidal stylus base body 3 by the rough grinding and the projected section 5 is used as the guiding section to the finish grinding groove when the base body 3 is ground to the desired electrode width l at the finish grinding disc. By properly using these two kinds of grinding discs having different pitches, problems resulting from stylus jumping and influences of adjacent grooves can be eliminated and excellent styluses can be ground. |
