Method for producing bars or rod wire having in the raw hot transformation state specially high mechanical characteristics. The method for producing steel bars or rod wire having after hot bonding and cooling a bainitic structure and characteristics: R >= 1000 Mpa, E >= 600 Mpa, and resilience KCU at 20<o>C >= 60 J/cm<2>, utilizes a steel containing substantially (% by mass): C 0.07-0.13; Mn 3.0-4.5; Si 0.1-1.0; Nb 0.03-0.12; B and/or Ti verifying either of the two following conditions: a) B >= 0.0010% and B + Ti/10 = 0.0020 to 0.0040%; b) Ti <= 0.010% and B = 0.0020 to 0.0080% and comprises a hot bonding terminated under 950<o>C. The products obtained by the method of the invention are used for example in the raw state of hot bonding as bars for oil drilling devices, and in a drawing temper state for machining, welding or cold or lukewarm conformations.
