Device for producing and displaying road information to assist the flow of traffic over routes which may be protected by intersection traffic lights. This device comprises a production part 1 in which there is calculated, on the basis of various parameters, in step with the lights, information given by the detection and counting loops 23, 24, 25, information given by "pedestrian" push buttons, optimal speeds making it possible, if the drivers keep to them, to pass through the protected intersections when the lights are at green. The optimal speeds are displayed on displays 20, 21, 22-37, 38, 39 distributed in a defined way along the route in question. Application to devices for assisting road traffic flow. <IMAGE>
