PURPOSE:To remove and discharge efficiently a foreign matter by a scraper member by making the surface of an image carrying body contact to a cleaning roller so that the former becomes a reverse grain against the latter, and also placing a foreign matter caught by the roller in such a relation as becomes a forward grain against the polishing surface. CONSTITUTION:An elastic cleaning roller 4 is made to contact by pressing and provided on the surface of a photosensitive body, also rotated in the direction as indicated with an arrow shown in the figure, its peripheral speed V2 is smaller than a speed V1 of the photosensitive body 1, and it is preferable that V2 is set in advance to 30-90% of V1. Also, in case of said speed relation, a polishing grain of the surface of the cleaning roller 4 is provided so as to become a reverse grain (in the direction where the polishing grain rises and tries to open) in the press-contacting and rubbing part to the photosensitive body 1. Also, with respect to the surface of the cleaning roller, a scraper member 7 is provided so that it becoems a forward grain against its polishing grain. |
