PURPOSE:To obtain an optical element having high hardness and the refractive index and Abbe number within the range where the values thereof do not exist so much in optical glass by using an epichlorohydrin/bisphenol A type epoxy resin as an essential material, using an alicyclic acid anhydride as a curing agent and bringing these materials into reaction with each other thereby forming the optical element. CONSTITUTION:The epichlorohydrin/bisphenol A type epoxy resin is used as an essential material and the alicyclic acid anhydride, for example, hexahydro phthalic anhydride is used as the curing agent. A curing accelerator of an amidine type is preferably used in the stage of bringing said essential material and curing agent into reaction and curing the same. The essential material and curing agent are most preferably mixing at 100=100 by weight and the curing accelerator is mixed most preferably at about 0.1 by the weight of the essential material, etc. The resultant optical element has about 1.54 refractive index and about 40 Abbe number. Said element has large dispersion at the relatively low refractive index and has the values which are not so much possible with optical glass. |
