<p>PURPOSE:To maintain such a steering torque detecting function as excellent in reliability as well as to aim at the minaturization of a device as a whole, by detecting the steering torque in utilizing a rotation differential between an input shaft and a pinion shaft. CONSTITUTION:When a steering wheel is rotated in one direction, a torsion bar 4 is distorted by load at the wheel side whereby a rotation differential as far as for a portion of a twisting angle of the torsion bar is produced between an input shaft 1 and a pinion shaft 2, and the same rotation differential is as well produced between a sleeve 7 at the pinion side and a sleeve 8 at the input shaft side too. This rotation differential causes displacement in a direction of rotation by action of inclines 7a and 8a of both these sleeves 7 and 8 whereby the sleeve 8 is slidden in an axial direction. When this sleeve 8 is slidden like this, a censing plate 10 also follows the movement of the sleeve 8 and moves forward, while its clearance delta with a noncontact type short-distance sensor 11 is varied, and a variation of this clearance delta is detected by the sensor 11 which generates a signal corresponding to the steering torque, thus power help corresponding to the steering torque takes place.</p> |
