PURPOSE:To prevent growth of solidified matter and to improve quality by stripping forcibly the solidified matter sticking to stationary gates from the wall surfaces of the stationary gates. CONSTITUTION:A molten metal 4 is poured into the space formed of two water- cooled casting drums 1, 1' and the two stationary gates 2, 2'. Refractories 20 which are the top end parts of devices for removing solidified matter having the same curvature as the curvature of the drums and moving back and forth on the drum surfaces repeat such forward and backward movements as to plunge into the molten metal 4 at the same speed as the speed of the drums 1, 1' and to return onto the molten surface instantaneously after intrusion to the underside of the molten metal surface. The solidified matter sticking to the stationary gates is thus stripped from sais gates without damaging the solidified shells moving synchronously with the drum 1, 1' on the surface of the drums 1, 1'.
