The present invention relates to a method and system of optical transmission of two video signals each containing a vision signal and synchronising pulses. The system comprises an emitter device incorporating processing means able to invert one of the signals and shift the latter's level in such a way that the respective levels of the synchronising pulses determine the maximum and minimum levels respectively of the optical signal generated by an emitter of light. The signal also comprises a receiver system 100 including detection means 140, 142 measuring the maximum and minimum levels respectively of the optical signal received in order to control accordingly the gain of a variable-gain amplifier 130. <IMAGE>
