Convertible travelling bag consisting of a casing 1 made from natural or synthetic material, having the shape of a kilometre marker (milestone) with a rounded top 6 which can be produced directly or with a lining of fluorescent material, and of a transparent pocket 4 on the front for sliding in a destination sign, characterised by its inner framework 2 of lightweight tubes, which is removable via the set of three compasses 42 articulated on each of the sides and three flat bars 50 pivoting on the top which serve as a stiffening and as a make-shift seat. The invention is also characterised by its single strap 8 and its appropriate buckles which enable the assembly to be carried as a rucksack and, alternatively, without upsetting the length adjustment of the strap, the latter may be converted into a shoulder strap or a strap for carrying in the hand. The multiple arrangements according to the invention make this a bag which is versatile in use and is particularly of interest for the hitch-hiker. <IMAGE>
