The invention relates to a medal in the shape of a housing fixed as such to the collar of an animal. This medal is characterised in that it consists of a small housing 1, at least one of whose sides holds the animal's identifying information, the said housing containing a drum 3 around which is wound a link 4 connected to the animal's collar by means of a fixed hook, the said housing staying permanently attached to the collar, but able to move away from or towards it by an unwinding or winding action as appropriate.
