The invention relates to a trap-cage which can catch, in large numbers, animals of various sizes. Operational principle: a pallet rotates around an axle in a frame which is placed over a pit. When an animal bears too much on the section of pallet overhanging the pit, it suddenly interrupts a magnetic effect which was keeping the pallet close to the frame, which leads to the rapid and sudden rotation of the pallet through approximately 90 DEG . After the animal has fallen in, a counterweight, which is placed near the axle on the section of pallet outside the pit, returns the pallet into a horizontal position and reestablishes the magnetic effect. The combined action of the members being attracted to each other by magnetism and of the counterweight causes the sensitivity and the sudden rotation of the pallet. The shape of the frame permits locking of the pallet when a captured animal of large size pushes the pallet from the inside. This improvement makes possible the use of the trap in a pit of reduced depth. Arches supporting plant stems guide the steps of the animal onto the pallet. <IMAGE>
