To produce composite sections which have a lightweight supporting core (10) and a fibre-reinforced sheath, a prefabricated supporting core (10) is introduced together with surrounding reinforcing strands (15) into a moulding channel (11). In the moulding channel (11) impregnation with a liquid synthetic resin takes place, followed by curing of the resin, which bonds by mechanically interlocking with the open-cell surface of the supporting core (10) consisting of foam. The moulding channel (11) may be provided with a radius of curvature, in order to produce, for example, bent composite profiles intended for slatted frames of beds.
