A method for controlling the paper-cutting grid in a rotary printing machine, in which momentary stresses are detected at several points along the paper web before and after the printing press and before the folding draw roller of the machine, the momentary deviation of the position of the paper cutting grid is calculated from time to time, the operating positions of the compensating devices are adjusted for compensation with the aid of further-processed signals of the calculations, and the momentary length of the web in the rotary printing machine is altered.
