During the processing of measurement signals from a multiplicity of individual measurement values, as in the processing of television images, the measurement signals are converted by an analog/digital converter and, following this, a considerable expenditure, particularly of time, is required even for determining summary characteristics such as mean values, standard deviations and so forth. To avoid, in particular, the time expenditure and possibly allowing a real-time evaluation of the measurement signals, it is proposed that at least one noise signal is generated, that each measurement signal is compared with at least one noise signal and that a sequence of output pulses is generated in accordance with predetermined relative relation of the respective values of measurement and noise signal compared with one another, this being done by means of an arrangement in which at least one noise generator (11, 12) and at least one comparator (6) is provided which is supplied with a measurement signal (7) and a noise signal generated by the noise generator and which outputs binary output pulses (16). <IMAGE>
