In a levelling machine for sheet-metal strip, having a levelling section and levelling rolls (27, 28), arranged above and below the levelling section, for acting upon the sheet-metal strip (21), two pairs (24, 25) of guide rolls are arranged respectively at the beginning and end of the levelling section (22), the pairs (27, 28) of levelling rolls are arranged between the pairs (24, 25) of guide rolls and can be moved in a plane perpendicular to the sheet-metal strip (21), control units (30, 31) are present for the levelling rolls (27, 28), and two scanners (33, 34) for detecting irregularities in the sheet-metal strip are arranged respectively on the entry and delivery side of the pairs (24, 25) of guide rollers in the direction of travel of the sheet-metal strip (21), the control units (30, 31) being controllable via a control unit (36) connected to the scanners (33, 34) in accordance with the detected irregularities in the sheet-metal strip. <IMAGE>
