PURPOSE:To provide the titled coating liquid safe and easy to deal with and capable of providing a uniform thermally transferrable ink layer on a base, wherein a heat-fusible ink comprising a heat-fusible binder and a coloring agent is dispersed in an emulsion of a polymer having a specified lowest film-forming temperature. CONSTITUTION:A heat-fusible ink obtained by melting and mixing a heat-fusible binder (e.g., carnauba wax) and a coloring agent (e.g., carbon black), optionally followed by dispersing the resultant mixture in water containing a dispersant such as a surface active agent, is dispersed in an emulsion of a polymer (e.g., a vinyl acetate polymer) having a lowest film-forming temperature of 40 deg.C to obtain the objective coating liquid. The coating liquid is applied to a base (e.g., a plastic film) to provide a thermally transferrable ink layer. |
