A disc type servomotor, in which a disc type motor unit is formed of rotor discs (12a-12f), each of which consists of a thin, annular rotor element (32) having a plurality of permanent magnets (34) arranged in the circumferential direction thereof, and a thin, annular rotor hub member (22) to the outer circumferential surface of which the rotor element (32) is attached; and stator discs (38a-38f), each of which consists of an annular stator element (36) containing a stator winding (40) therein, and an annular spacer (42) of a predetermined thickness to which the stator element (36) is attached, the stator element (36) being disposed in opposition to the rotor element (32) via a very narrow space G. A plurality of disc type motor units thus constructed are mounted on a rotatable shaft (10) so that the motor units are arranged in parallel with one another in the axial direction thereof. The number of the disc type motor units is determined in accordance with the level of a required output torque. |
