In order to avoid both of these, the snow chain according to the invention is constructed in such a way that the inner ring (2) and the outer ring (3) have in their apex region which is at the top during mounting a closure (23, 32), and the two-part outer ring (3) has extension elements (33, 34) which emerge from the two points (12) of intersection lying diametrically opposite the closure (32), hooks (35, 36) being arranged at the ends of the said extension elements (33, 34). <IMAGE>
