PURPOSE:To provide a general-purpose grease compsn. for brakes applicable to any use, prepd. by adding a neopentyl glycol ester and a metal terephthalamate to a polyoxypropylene glycol monoalkyl ether. CONSTITUTION:The grease compsn. consists of 100pts.wt. base lubricating oil and 5-30pts.wt. metal terephthalamate of the formula. The base lubricating oil is prepd. by adding 5-40pts.wt. neopentyl polyol ester having a kinematic viscosity of 5-70cst at 100 deg.C to 100pts.wt. polyoxypropylene glycol monoalkyl ether having a kinematic viscosity of 10-100cst at 100 deg.C. Preferred metal terephthalamate is, e.g., potassium N-octadecylterephthalamate. For improved performance, antioxidant, corrosion and rust inhibitor, wear resisting agent, etc. may be added to the compsn. |
