PURPOSE:To detect a correct length of a defect part by detecting defective portions due to defects in a different form of a contuous object to totalize the lengths of detective portions cleared of overlaps. CONSTITUTION:Defects are detected with a thickness gauge 3 based on information inputted with a control panel 2 for defective flaw portions of a coil 1 moving at a fixed speed in the direction of the arrow (a). Information on the start and end points of the time of detecting defects in a different from of the coil 1 is inputted into an electronic computer through a pulse oscillator 4 which generates a pulse each time the object moves by a unit length to determine the lengths 5 and 6 of detects. Thus, a correct length of defects can be detected from the sum 7 of the lengths 5 and 6 cleared of overlaps between different defects. |
