PURPOSE:To manufacture a light direction limiting plate superior in heat resistance at low cost by forming metallic protuberances on the surface of a transparent substrate by etching treatment. CONSTITUTION:A metallic foil 2a is bonded to the surface of the transparent substrate 1 with a transparent adhesive 3, and a protective film 4 is formed on the surface of the foil 2a in a prescribed form. The film 4 is formed by coating the foil 2a with a coating material having chemical resistance, or a photosensitive material, such as photosetting resin, then, and printing through a negative film having a prescribed pattern, and removing the unnecessary part. Next, the foil 2a is etched to remove the foil not coated with the film 4, and the remaining parts are used as the protuberances 2 serving as the light direction limiting plates.
