PURPOSE:To obtain a sliding contact material having improved wear resistance by adding a specified amount of at least one among Nb, In, Ba and Cd to an alloy material consisting of specified percentages of Au, Ag and Pd. CONSTITUTION:A sliding contact material for a brush contact or the like is obtd. by adding 0.5-15wt% at least one among Nb, In, Ba and Cd to an alloy material consisting of 30-50wt% Au, 20-40wt% Ag and 20-40wt% Pd without changing the ratio in the composition. Oxide produced by the addition acts as a lubricant to improve the wear resistance. The wear resistance can be improved furthermore by substituting 0.01-0.5wt% Fe group element such as Fe, Ni or Co for part of at least one among Nb, In, Ba and Ca.
