NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formula I (R1 is methyl, ethyl, propyl; R2, R3 are H, OH, incorporate to represent O with a double bond; R4 is lower alkyl, phenethyl; dotted line means the bond between the 2- and 3-positions is single or double) and its acid adduct salt. EXAMPLE:6-(2-Hydroxy-3-isopropylaminopropoxy)-1,1-dimethylindane. USE:Remedy for arrhythmia, stenocardia and hypertension: it has good action of blocking beta-adrenarin acceptor and antiarrhythmic action. PREPARATION:The reaction of 1,1-dialkyl-6-hydroxyindane of formula II and indene derivative with an epihalohydrin of formula III (X is halogen) is carried out in the presence of a base at 70-100 deg.C to give a compound of formula IV, then the product is allowed to react with an amine derivative of H2N-R4 at 30-90 deg.C to give a compound of formula I .
