PURPOSE:To make sorting unnecessary when directory information is outputted, by inserting individual file management information of a directory in a storage device in the dictionary order of file names. CONSTITUTION:Relations between directory information of a floppy disc device FDD and that of a RAM incorporated in an equipment are shown in the figure. A copy of the directory is always allowed to exist in the RAM or all of the directory are read out into the RAM at a directory update time at least, and management information of new files are inserted to directories so that file management information are in the dictionary order of file names when new files are registered. Consequently, when directory information is outputted, it is outputted in order from the start of the directory to obtain file management information in the dictionary order of file names. Thus, special sorting is unnecessary when file information is outputted. |
