发明名称 INFORMATION RECORDING AND REPRODUCING METHOD
摘要 PURPOSE:To enable recording with a simple operation and reproduction with high sensitivity without contact by irradiating selectively light to the surface of a recording medium in the state of applying an electric field thereto in the prescribed direction thereby forming the pits having the axis of polarization different from the direction of the axis of polarization to perform recording and reproducing said pits by using crossed nicols for the axis of polarization. CONSTITUTION:The axis 7 of polarization toward the X-axis direction is formed on the recording layer 4 of a recording medium 5 made into the construction laminated successively with a reflecting layer 2 consisting of aluminum, an insulating layer 3 consisting of SiO2 and a recording layer 4 consisting of a ferrodielectric material on a base body 1 consisting of a polyester film. A laser beam 9 is selectively irradiated to the surface of the recording layer 4 in the state of applying of electric field 8 to the layer 4 surface of the medium 5 in the direction intersecting orthogonally with the axis 7. Pits 11 having the axis 10 of polarization toward the Y-axis direction are formed to perform recording (writing). The beam is irradiated to the layer 4 region of the medium 5 except the pits 11 through a polarizer beam splitter 15 and a terminal 16 for applying an electric field and the reflected light thereof is made incident on an analyzer 17 through the beam splitter 15 by which reproduction is executed.
