PURPOSE:To improve shelf stability and to obtain superior images having no contamination by adding a specific compound obtained by a reaction of 1-phenyl-3- pyrazolidinones and acid anhydride as a developing agent precursor to a photographic emulsion layer or colloid layer. CONSTITUTION:The developing agent precursor expressed by the formula I (R1, R2 are H, alkyl, R3-R5 are H, alkyl, alkoxy, or phenyl, A is the bivalent residual groups expressed by the formulas II, III, (n) is 2 or 3, R6 is H, alkyl, phenyl, halogen or alkoxy, R7, R8 are H, halogen, alkyl, phenyl, and a benzene ring may be formed by the mutual ring closure of R7 and R8) is contained in a silver halide emulsion layer or other colloidal layer in a water permeation relation with said emulsion layer. Thereby, the occurrence of the decomposition of the precursor during the storage of the photosensitive material is obviated, hence the good images of high sensitivity and photographic density having no contamination and photographic fogs are obtained. |
