PRODUCTION OF ALKOXYIMINOACETIC AMIDE

PURPOSE:The reaction of alkoxyiminoacetic ester with ammonia enables high- yield production of the titled compound used as a starting material of agricultural chemicals and medicines in high purity. CONSTITUTION:The reaction of an alkoxyiminoacetic ester of formula I (R is lower alkyl) such as methoxyiminoacetic methyl ester with ammonia is carried out in an inert solvent such as methanol or benzene at -20-30 deg.C for 1hr to 1 day under normal pressure to give the objective compound of formula II. The ammonia is usually used in the gas form, but it may be used in the form of aqueous solution. The alcohol as the solvent is preferably same as the one which is formed as a by-product during the reaction.
