A pharmaceutical composition comprises a compound of formula (VIII ): < IMG > (VIII ) wherein either X4' represents a methoxy group, X6 represents a methyl group or a hydrogen atom and each of X5 and X7 represents a hydrogen atom; X4' represents a hydroxy group and each of X5, X6 and X7 represents a hydrogen atom; X6 represents a methyl group, a methoxy group or a hydrogen atom and each of X4', X5 and X7 represents a hydrogen atom; or each of X4', X5 and X7 represents a hydroxy group and X6 represents a hydrogen atom in effective unit dose form in association with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier; the compositions have activity against rhinovirus and may thus be employed in the treatment of the common cold.
