MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a thin film type recording medium having good durability for a disk device by coating and protecting partially the end of a magnetic recording medium with the other protective material. CONSTITUTION:A thin film recording medium 1 is formed with a Co-Cr vertical magnetized layer to 0.3mu thickness by a high-frequency sputtering method of a glass substrate. A polyimide resin 2 is formed to about 2mum thickness as a protective film to the end of the outside edge thereof. Such film is obtd. by masking suitably the inside of the substrate and spin-coating the polyimide resin on the same. Durability is considerably improved by protecting the end of the outside edge in the above-mentioned way. It is also possible to use an inorg. material as the protective film. A mask vapor deposition method or the like is used in such a case and the film is formed to at least 1mum thickness.
