PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance of a storage body and to enable recording and reproducing having high density by coating a cobalt.chromium vertical magnetic recording medium contg. more chromium than in a medium film on a cobalt.chomium vertical magnetic recording medium film. CONSTITUTION:A vertical magnetic storage body is made into the constitution in which a cobalt.chromium vertical recording medium film 2 contg. 18wt% chromium is coated to 0.2-1.5mum film thickness by a sputtering method on a resin substrate 1 and further the cobalt.chromium vertical recording medium film 3 is coated by the sputtering method (0.005-0.1mum film thickness) on said film 2. The corrosion resistance is considerably improved by increasing the content of Cr only in a surface layer of the vertical recording medium in the above- mentioned way. A ''Permalloy'' film 4 having a soft magnetic characteristic may be inserted between the substrate 1 and the film 2.
