NEW MATERIAL:An oxazole derivative shown by the formula I (R<1> and R<2> are H, or lower alkyl; R<3> is hydroxyl group, or substituted amino group; X and Y are H or halogen; n is 1, or 2). EXAMPLE:N-(2-Thiazolyl)-2-[4-(2-phenyl)oxazolylmethylthio] propionic acid amide. USE:Having an adjusting action of immune function and antiallergic action, useful as a remedy for rheumatoid arthritis, nephritis, autoimmune disease, cancer, microbism, etc. or a drug for hyperlipemia. Having low side effect. PREPARATION:A compound shown by the formula II is reacted with a compound shown by the formula III in an inert solvent such as methanol, etc. in the presence of a dehydrohalogenating agent such as sodium carbonate, etc. at 0- 120 deg.C to tive a compound shown by the formula IV. Then the compound shown by the formula IV is reacted with a compound shown by the formula V in the presence of a dehydrating agent such as phosphorus pentachloride, etc. at 180- 220 deg.C to give a compound shown by the formula I .
