PURPOSE:To obtain a sintered hard alloy having improved wear resistance by using a high hardness Fe alloy which does not decarburize WC as a binder in a WC-base sintered hard alloy. CONSTITUTION:Powders of WC, chromium carbide, carbon and iron or high Cr cast iron are blended and mixed so as to provide a composition consisting of 70-90wt% WC and the balance Fe alloy contg. about 25-30wt% Cr and about 3-5wt% C. The mixture is compression-molded and sintered at about 1,300- 1,600 deg.C in vacuum or a nonoxidizing atmosphere. The WC powder is not decarburized during the sintering. Since chromium carbide is present in the binding phase, the wear resistance of the binding phase is improved, so the wear resistance of the resulting sintered hard alloy can be improved.
