PURPOSE:To obtain strong back-filling blocks of a simple structure by using flat plates set in parallel with each other, while paired wedges slidably attached between the flat plates, and a cotter with a taper to fit the distance between the tiered portions of the wedges. CONSTITUTION:A back-filling block consists of flat plates 5 and 5' set in parallel with each other with freely set intervals, paired wedges 1 and 1' slidably attached between the flat plates 5 and 5', and a cotter 3 with a taper to fit the distance between the tiered portions 2 and 2' of the wedges 1 and 1'. The block is set between a waling and a sheathing wall and driven into the ground, whereupon a stretching force is produced between the waling and the sheathing wall due to the expansion of the distance between the flat plates 5 and 5' while the flat plate 5' is closely attached to the sheathing wall. The structure of the back-filling block can thus be simplified and the manufacturing cost of the block can be reduced. The block having high strength and toughness can thus be repeatedly used without danger of breakage and disorder. |
