PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition for controlling the increase, at elevated temperatures, in dehydration level, comprising 2-mercaptobenzimidazole compound, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, bentonite and water. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition comprising (A) ca. 0.001-0.2wt% of 2-mercaptobenzimidazole compound (its tautomer being also acceptable) of formula (R1-R4 are each H, methyl, ethyl, etc.; X is H, alkali mtal or ammonium), (B) ca. 0.1-1.5wt% of sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (normally with a substitution degree 0.5-1.5 and polymerization degree 100-1,500), (C) ca. 1-15wt% of bentonite and (D) ca. 25-99wt% of water.
