PURPOSE:To increase sealing ability at the ends of electrodes by combining together a frame formed in a parallel crosses construction with both sides of a fuel elctrode and an air electrode which are stacked so that these gas passages cross with an electrolyte layer interposed. CONSTITUTION:A fuel electrode 1 coated with a catalyst layer 2 and an air electrode 1' coated with a catalyst layer 2' are stacked with an electrolyte layer 3 interposed, and a fluorine resin frame 7 formed in parallel crosses construction and having concavities 8 is mounted so that gas passage are parallel to the frame to fabricate a unit cell. The several unit cells are stacked with a separator placed between unit cells, and a manifold 5 is mounted on the side of stacked cells to fabricate a fuel cell. Even if fuel gas leaks through pores of the electrode 1, since a way of leaked gas is blocked by the separator 4 and electrolyte layer 3, sealing ability is increased. A gap between the manifold 5 and the side of stacked cell is minimized to increase sealing ability in this part. |
