PURPOSE:To enable an easy decision of a cumulative total of times of erroneous inputs with a little of memory by recording erroneous inputs in a non-used bit of a memory part when input password number data are decided to be an erroneous input and by setting the number of used bits less than twice the cumulative total of times of erroneous inputs. CONSTITUTION:When an IC card is inserted into a card reader of a terminal 1, and a password number is inputted through a keyboard 5, password number data are supplied to a microprocessor MPC11 of the IC card through a control circuit 8 and a card reader/writer 9. The MPC11 collates the supplied password number data with those stored in a storage part 12, and when it decides an erroneous input, it records the erroneous input in a non-used bit in an erroneous input recording area of the storage part 12. Simultaneously the MPC11 sets the number of used bits for recording less than twice the cumulative total of times of erroneous inputs. Thus the substantial and cumulative total of times of erroneous inputs and times of continuous erroneous inputs up to the current time can be stored with a little of memory. |
