PURPOSE:To perform the discrimination of material quality regardless of the shape of an object to be detected or the area of a reflective surface, by projecting a radio wave to the object to be detected and receiving the reflected wave to extract reflection phase information peculiar to the object to be detected. CONSTITUTION:The signal from an oscillator 3 is supplied to an antenna 2 through a duplexer 4 to be converted to a radio wave which is, in turn, incident to an embedded medium and reflected from an embedded object 1 to reach the antenna 2. The reflected signal is sent to an amplifier 5 through the duplexer 4 and receives phase discrimination by a phase discriminator 6. This phase discrimination signal is sent to a processing apparatus 7 and processed along with the signal from an antenna position detection apparatus 8 and the position and quality of the embedded object 1 are displayed by a display apparatus 9. By utilizing that the phase difference of the incident wave and the reflected wave is different at every material quality of the embedded object 1, the material quality of the embedded object is certainly discriminated regardless of the shape and size of the embedded object and displayed along with positional information. |
