PURPOSE:To produce a high-strength ideal gear that makes less noise, by kneading reinforcing short fibers and a thermosetting resin, extruding the mixture from a nozzle to fill a mold with the resulting orientated material, and molding the material under heating and pressure. CONSTITUTION:Reinforcing short fibers and a thermosetting resin are kneaded and are extruded from a nozzle of an extruder to fill a mold with the resulting orientated material followed by molding under heating and pressure thereby producing a gear comprising a teeth section 1 of the fibre-reinforced resin and a steel boss section 2. In this case, the molding material wherein reinforcing short fibers are arranged approximately in one dimensional manner is charged circumferentially of a female mold of molds for a gear, and after the heating and molding, the reinforcing fibers will be arranged ideally along the teeth of the gear. Thus a high-strength ideal fibre-reinforced resin gear that makes less noise can be produced. The gear is particularly suitable to be used in automobiles. |
