The present invention relates to a depression/retraction tool for a compression nail for bone fractures lying very near the joint, the nail having a hollow cylindrical housing and two sets of claws which can be pushed out over two lateral openings, sit on two claw parts displaceable in the housing and are displaceable relative to one another, comprising a sleeve, a push-rod axially displaceable therein and having a screw thread on the proximal end for connection to the distal claw part of the nail, and a claw extension nut which can be screwed by means of an internal screw thread onto an external screw thread on the distal end of the sleeve. In order to simplify this tool and handling thereof without necessitating any change in the associated compression nail a plastic part (17) is provided in the claw extension nut (16) and interacts with the polished distal end of the push-rod (13), and a screw is provided in the claw extension nut (16) for firm connection of the latter to the push-rod (13). <IMAGE>
