An injection unit for diesel engines with a piston pump has a pump piston (1) rotationally adjustable by means of a control rod (21) by way of control members (7, 9, 11, 17, 18, 20). A spiral bending spring (12), the other end of which rests on a part assigned to the unit housing (3), acts on the pump piston (1) exerting a rotational load on it. A tappet sleeve (2) guided in the unit housing (3) acts on the pump piston (1). In order to ensure a complete freedom of play in the drive train from the control members to the pump piston the bending spring (12) is wound directly around the pump piston (1) and also directly fixed to this, and is supported on the tappet sleeve (2), rotationally fixed in relation to the unit housing (3). <IMAGE>
