METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PHASE COMPENSATION OF MAGNETIC RECORDING AND REPRODUCING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To set automatically an optimum amount of compensation by recording the signal of a square wave together with phase compensation and detecting the minimum peak level of a reproduction output signal to perform the phase compensation corresponding to said minimum peak value. CONSTITUTION:An input recording signal A is supplied to a recording head 4 from a square wave signal generating circuit 10 via a phase compensating circuit 12 and a recording amplifier. The peak level of the reproduction output signal delivered via a reproduction head 6 is detected by a peak detecting circuit 13. The output of the circuit 13 is converted into digital signals by an A/D converter 14 and supplied to a control means 15. The means 15 transmits a control signal to a phase compensating circuit 12 according to said digital signal. Then the circuit 12 sets an amount of compensation corresponding to the minimum peak level. Thus the optimum phase compensation is applied automatically to the signal A. It is possible to obtain the same waveform between the input signal and the reproduction output signal of a magnetic recording/reproducing device.
